Couples Widget Not Updating on iPhone? 7 Fixes
Couples widget stuck or showing old information? Seven fixes in a safe order, from Low Power Mode to Background App Refresh, and why it updates for one partner only.
Why is my couples widget not updating?
Usually because iOS has not refreshed it yet, or because the app has nothing new to show. Apple says a widget you view often typically gets 40 to 70 refreshes a day, roughly every 15 to 60 minutes, and Low Power Mode turns off Background App Refresh. Open the app first, then work through the seven fixes below.
Those are Apple's general figures for all widgets, not a measured HeartSee interval. Do not use a refresh delay to guess where a partner is or whether they are ignoring you. Connectivity, background scheduling, battery state, and iOS can all delay the screen.
How do I fix a couples widget that won't update?
Work from the least disruptive step to the most disruptive one, and check the widget after each step. None of these steps deletes your HeartSee data.
- Open HeartSee and check whether the mood, note, countdown, distance, or streak is correct inside the app. If the app is also out of date, ask your partner to open HeartSee on their iPhone.
- Check that both iPhones have Wi-Fi or mobile data. A widget cannot show what the app has not received.
- Turn off Low Power Mode in Settings, Battery. Apple lists Background App Refresh among the features Low Power Mode turns off, and it switches off by itself once the iPhone charges to 80%.
- Open Settings, General, Background App Refresh. Make sure the setting is on and, if HeartSee is listed, that its switch is on.
- For a distance widget, open Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, HeartSee, and keep the access the app asks for. Both partners need it.
- Touch and hold the widget, choose Remove Widget, then add it again from the widget gallery. Remove only the widget, not the app.
- Restart the iPhone, then update HeartSee in the App Store and install a stable iOS update if one is waiting.

Why does it update for me but not for my partner?
Each iPhone refreshes its own widgets on its own schedule. Apple says the budget depends on factors such as how often the widget is viewed, so a widget your partner rarely looks at can lag behind yours. Low Power Mode, Background App Refresh, and Location settings are also chosen separately on each phone.
Your widget can also only show what your partner's iPhone has shared. If their phone has been offline, or Location access for HeartSee is off, a value such as distance can stay old until their phone shares it again. Run the steps above on both phones, and compare what each of you sees inside the app first.

What if HeartSee is missing from the widget gallery?
Launch the app once, wait a moment, and reopen the gallery. After an install or update, iOS may need time to register the widget. Lock Screen widgets also need iOS 16 or later, so on iOS 15 look for HeartSee in the Home Screen gallery only.
If it still does not appear, restart the iPhone and follow the add-widget steps again from the start.

When should I reinstall or contact support?
Reinstall only after the simpler steps fail. Make sure you understand whether local app information, pairing, or unsent content could be affected. Record the iPhone model, iOS version, HeartSee version, widget size, and what the widget shows.
When contacting support, describe the expected result, actual result, and the last time it worked. Do not send pairing codes, exact location, or private partner content. A cropped screenshot without sensitive information is usually enough.

Frequently asked questions
How often does an iPhone widget refresh?
iOS decides. Apple says a widget you view often typically gets 40 to 70 refreshes a day, roughly every 15 to 60 minutes, and the interval varies. Treat a couples widget as a recent snapshot and open the app for the latest value.
Does Low Power Mode stop widgets from updating?
It can delay them. Apple lists Background App Refresh among the features Low Power Mode turns off. Low Power Mode switches off by itself once the iPhone charges to 80%.
Why does my partner's widget show something different from mine?
Each iPhone refreshes its widgets on its own schedule, with its own battery, network, and permission settings. Open the app on both phones; if the app is correct, the widget catches up at the next refresh.
Do I need to delete and reinstall the app?
Rarely. Remove and re-add only the widget, restart the iPhone, and update the app first. Reinstall only after those steps fail, and check what could be affected before you do.
Does a widget that is not updating mean my partner is ignoring me?
No. Refresh timing depends on iOS, battery, connection, and settings on both phones. It says nothing about attention, so ask your partner directly if something feels off.
